![]() Who bothers to read when a mod author says don't upgrade, start a new game instead? Nobody. The exact same thing could happen to anyone on any other mod hosting site when upgrading a mod. The PLATFORM is not responsible for that kind of problem. If you're gonna summon me, I'd appreciate it if it were with accurate information. If a major redesign comes in, the orphaned scripts rip your worldspace apart, one bit at a time. An update can break your savegame and Steam doesn't give you the choice not to update Workshop content. Steam is the WORST place to download Skyrim mods exactly because it installs the mods automatically. It tries the virtualisation thingy that Mod Organizer does, but it replicates it poorly. I also suck at explaining things.įootnote: Don't use Nexus Mod Manager. It overwrites only the perceived content, not the factual one. What that means is the mods can be freely installed/deleted/replaced/overwritten without messing up OTHER installed mods. It makes the game perceive (using symlinks probably) the mods as installed in the Data folder, but they're stored elsewhere. Mod Organizer never puts anything into your Skyrim installation. ![]() Nexusmods has an extensive forum community and active modders, most of the best mods are Nexus-exclusive uploads. The golden combo is Nexus Mods + Mod Organizer, for two reasons: That lvl80 Nord stealth archer heavy fighter? It's corrupted data now. Major updates to mods can and will break your existing savegames. ![]() Doesn't have the best mods available more often than not. Longer version: It installs them with no rhyme or reason, dumping all the files into the Data folder, possibly making unneeded/undesired overwrites.
